| My Fit Foods opens premier store in Southlake Posted: 11 Mar 2011 10:22 PM PST My Fit Foods / Submitted Photo My Fit Foods Founder Mario Mendias created his healthy food concept four years ago with a mission to develop healthy, good-tasting, pre-portioned foods at affordable prices. Southlake is the companys newest location. Southlake welcomed the opening of healthy food concept My Fit Foods at its premier Metroplex location on Saturday, March 5.My Fit Foods is a takeout operation for fresh, healthy, pre-portioned meals and snacks, which was founded four years ago by Owner Mario Mendias. Mendias started the business out of his apartment kitchen and has seen it grow to more than 30 locations throughout Texas, according to a My Fit Foods press release. Mendias said he is very excited about having a My Fit Foods in Southlake.Southlake is fantastic because youve got more CEOs who live in Southlake than just about anywhere else, and at the same time you have the best athletic program as well, he said. I think its great for the kids, the parents and the community. At the same time, I think My Fit Foods being in Southlake is awesome for our company. Mendias said those who might be reluctant to explore My Fit Foods and its offerings will likely be glad if they do. Ive known people who for about three years wouldnt go inside our stores in Houston, he said. Then, when they finally do go in, they always say, I cant believe it took me this long. Mendias said its the little things that My Fit Foods does that makes their product offering stand above the rest of the market. The number one thing I can say about My Fit Foods is that we are extremely healthy, and were properly portioned, he said. Were the real deal. We get people results when they eat our food. They sleep better, have better energy levels and never feel tired after a meal. My Fit Foods offers meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as snacks. Selection wise, we carry over a thousand meals in the Southlake store at any given time with over 52 different selections, he said. People arent going to get bored and say, That fit food tastes the same all the time. Product quality is essential to My Fit Foods integrity, Mendias said. There no preservatives, he said Our meats and our vegetables get delivered fresh every single day. We get our ground turkey fresh from the farm. No one else does that, everywhere else you get ground turkey, its always frozen. We still crack our own eggs. The rice that we use is actually a parboiled brown rice. It looks white, but it has the lowest glycemic index of any carbohydrate or rice out there being a 38 on the index, which is fantastic for long-lasting energy levels. When people take their first bite of a meal, theyre going to be so impressed with the quality and the taste of the product. Mendias said affordability and taste are two other aspects of My Fit Foods appeal. Your average meal is between $6 and $9, he said. Its just as affordable as fast food, but yet its truly healthy for you. We cook with macadamia nut oil. Its $100 a gallon. We could use coconut oil, which is also a healthy oil and only costs $20 a gallon, but it doesnt have a nutty flavor. At the end of the day, if youre eating healthy food and you dont like the way it tastes, youre not going to come back. Mendias said My Fit Foods places such an emphasis on integrity, they welcome honoring customer requests for kitchen tours. If someone walks through the store and says, Hey, Id love to go through the kitchen to look at the product youre using, wed be more than happy to take them on a kitchen tour, he said. The store will hold its Grand Opening Celebration Event on March 27. Participants can take 20 percent off their entire in-store purchase that day, as well as sit it on Group Consultations with My Fit Foods nutritional consultants. The store is located at 2600 E. Southlake Blvd., Suite 160. The following are comments from the readers. You must register with a valid email to post comments.
